Oh What a Feeling - Sci-Fleet Toyota Saves A Duck

The PA Research Foundation’s Great Brisbane Duck Race has just stepped up a gear after joining forces with Sci-Fleet Toyota as a new sponsor for 2009.

The man behind Sci-Fleet Toyota, Andrew Scifleet generously put his hand up to help raise vital funds for life-saving cancer research.

“Cancer impacts many people’s lives so when we heard the PA Research Foundation needed a hand to help get Queenslanders behind this wonderful cause we didn’t hesitate to put our name forward,” Mr Scifleet said.

“We are so pleased to be able to donate a brand new Sci- Fleet Toyota Yaris to this year’s winner of the Great Brisbane Duck Race and all you have to do is adopt a duck for a few dollars to be in the running.”

“It is an iconic event on the charity calendar with money raised going towards ground breaking cancer research that one day you or someone you know may need to help save their lives.”

One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. The PA Research Foundation provides funding for research teams increasing the survival rate of cancer patients.

PA Research Foundation Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Allen said the Foundation had been supporting researchers since the 1980’s and contributed to over $20 million in the search for many cures from cancer to diabetes through to arthritis.

“The Great Brisbane Duck race is a great way to help us raise money and every year we are buoyed by the enthusiasm and generosity of Queenslanders towards this event,” Mr Allen said.

“There is nothing more rewarding than watching these ducks float down the Brisbane River knowing their aim is to help raise funds for cancer research to help find preventative therapeutics so our future generations will be able to live without this disease.

“Last year we sold over 18,000 ducks and raised over $58,000 from the event so this year with Sci-Fleet Toyota on board we would love to beat that number.”

This will be the ninth year of the Great Brisbane Duck race. It will take place on 26 September and will be run over a 100m course on the Brisbane River in front of the Big Wheel, Cultural Forecourt, South Bank.

Tickets for the Great Brisbane Duck Race will be available from Local Sci-Fleet Toyota dealerships.

The winning ducks owner will walk away with a brand new Sci-Fleet Toyota Yaris valued at $15,990 drive away courtesy of Sci-Fleet Toyota, Kedron, Albion and Taringa.

Oh what a feeling knowing that you can win a brand new car and fight cancer at the same time!
